Life in Technicolor

There’s a new challenge starting today on the Oddball Art Stamps Blog! The theme is: Life in Technicolor. I made a few design team inspiration pages in my art journal.

All of the digistamps used in my art journal pages can be found in the Oddball Art Stamps Etsy shop. Use the code DTSTEPHANIE10 to save 10%

Each page was painted entirely with Brea Reese Glitter and Watercolor Inks. I believe I used all 14 colors in this project! They are so much fun to paint with and mixing the inks gives you an endless amount of colors!

We have monthly challenge on the Oddball Art Stamps Blog and Facebook group. Come join in the fun and enter to win!!

Distress Oxide Background |Technique a Week | Oddball Art Stamps

This is my first week doing a technique a week project for Oddball Art Stamps Blog. I chose to show how I create a quick and super easy abstract background with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks.

You need:

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks:
(Reinkers or stamp pad)

  • Picked Raspberry
  • Salty Ocean
  • Seedless Preserves

Spray Bottle filled with water
Watercolor Paper: I used Canson
Heat embossing gun
Easy to clean surface to work on

  1. Squeeze a few drops (I used the reinkers) of Salty Ocean on your work surface.
  2. Spritz with water
  3. Place Watercolor paper on top of drops and press down. Lift paper and move around repeatedly.
  4. Dry with heat gun
  5. Repeat process with the two remaining colors.

Ta Da! Abstract Background ready for your artwork to be added to it.

Click here to watch the video of my process on my YouTube channel. Don’t forget to like and subscribe if you find this video useful.

I added the Oddball Art Stamps image #205. Use discount code DTSTEPHANIE10 to save 10% off your purchase from the Oddball Etsy shop.

Future video on how I painted Sorry Sally. I had a happy accident with this one. She didn’t start out as a zombie. We all make mistakes and I will show how I recovered from this one.

Hope you enjoyed my technique! I would love to hear what other techniques you’d like to see in the future.

Blooms! | Vera Lane Studio |Design Team InspirationĀ

This week on the Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group there are blooms & blossoms everywhere! We also have an ATC swap hosted by design team member Carole Jones. You all should come over and join in the fun!

This lil hippie bride is from the Vera Lane Studio set: Bride or Flower Girl (available by request only in the Vera Lane Studio Etsy store. The flower is from the Backyard Monsters set. I accented the left side with abstract flowers decorative tape. The quote is from Tim Holtz.

I painted the ATC with Brea Reese glitter inks. Glitter Ink colors used: cadmium yellow, pink, lake blue, ocean green, raw umber and neutral grey. I also used Brea Reese fine liner pen to decorate the border.

Below I featured The Gardner digistamp set in my Dylusions art journal. I colored the layout with the Dina Wakely Scribblesticks. It was so much fun to “paint.” She is absolutely adorable and the whole set I love  because of the chunky flowers.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post and will check back next week for more Vera Lane Studio digistamp goodness!

Kokeshi Dolls | Vera Lane Studio| Design Team InspirationĀ

The super cute new digistamp release over on Vera Lane Studio is absolutely adorable!

(Just click the image above to be transported to the VLS Etsy store) I made several projects with these beauties!

The journal page above was my first time using Brea Reese alcohol markers. I accented it with white gel pen and Brea Reese metallic pens. She has been placed on a black and white origami paper.

The page above is in my Dina Wakely mixed Media journal. I used Brea Reese glitter inks to paint the kokeshi dolls. I made the lanterns by punching circles out of origami paper. The purplish background is Daniel Smith watercolor in moonglow. I tore strips of origami paper to trim the bottom of the page.

The lil cutie above is my first altered index card. It is a perfect size to make small art pieces. The background is a piece of origami paper with a few pieces of washi tape added and inked around the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink. The VLS kokeshi doll has been painted with Brea Reese glitter inks. A mars black watercolor pen was used to create the dark shadow around the doll. I then used a Brea Reese fine line pen to frame the image.

Aren’t the atcs I created above adorable?! Brea Reese glitter inks were used to paint the dolls. Each lil doll is on a 3.5×2.5 card of origami paper.

This page is in my dylusions art journal and it is painted entirely with Brea Reese glitter inks and watercolor pen. You will see accents of torn origami paper in the background. Finished the piece with Brea Reese fine line pens. White gel pen was used to add highlights.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post. Thank you for stopping by. Also don’t forget to come join in the fun over in the Vera Lane Studio Facebook group. We have a fun ATC swap going on now!
